The Law of Fluorescent Light Bulb Disposal
In the state of California, there was an Assembly Bill that passed regulating the disposal of fluorescent light bulbs and PCB & Non PCB electronic ballasts. Assembly Bill #1699 under Title 33 of Environmental Quality states that "Universal Waste Lamps" (Fluorescent Light Bulbs) also known as LAC 33:V.3811, and Electronic Ballasts that contain the universal waste dielectric fluid, must be managed in a way that prevents any universal wastes or components of any universal waste being permitted into the environment.
